The Luminous Mysteries were added to the Rosary by Pope John Paul II in 2002. Before that addition, Thursday followed the traditional schedule and was assigned the Joyful Mysteries — the same mysteries still prayed on Monday. In the modern schedule, the Luminous Mysteries are assigned to Thursday, and the Joyful Mysteries move to Saturday. Both schedules are valid.

To pray the complete Rosary for Thursday, begin by making the Sign of the Cross, then pray the Apostles’ Creed on the crucifix, one Our Father on the first bead, three Hail Marys on the next three, and a Glory Be. Baptism of Jesus
The Baptism of Jesus reveals Christ publicly as the Son of God. The Father speaks from Heaven, the Holy Ghost descends like a dove, and Jesus begins His public ministry. This mystery reminds Catholics of the grace received at baptism and the call to live faithfully as children of God.
Then cometh Jesus from Galilee to the Jordan, unto John, to be baptized by him. But John stayed him, saying: I ought to be baptized by thee, and comest thou to me? Wedding at Cana
At Cana, Jesus performs His first public miracle through the intercession of His Blessed Mother. This mystery reveals the power of Mary’s prayers and the importance of trusting Christ completely. Catholics are reminded to follow the words of Our Lady: “Whatsoever he shall say to you, do ye.”
And the third day, there was a marriage in Cana of Galilee: the mother of Jesus was there.

Jesus came into the world calling souls to repentance, faith, and conversion of heart. In proclaiming the Kingdom of God, Christ invites all people to leave sin behind and follow Him faithfully. This mystery encourages Catholics to live the Gospel boldly and seek holiness in daily life.
